ORGAN AND ORCHESTRA SPECTACULAR,
ST. MICHAEL LUTHERAN CHURCH,

This concert is being promoted by the American Guild of Organists
as the official featured event for the evening prior to the opening
of the 2008 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists,
which occurs June 22 - 26, 2008 in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis
- St. Paul, Minneosta.
Frederick Hohman will perform upon the 3-manual Reuter Organ
at St. Michael Church, Bloomington, and joins with the Bloomington
Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of the orchestra's principal
conductor, Joseph Schlefke, in a program featuring organ with
orchestra. Frederick Hohman shall be the only organ soloist featured
at the concert.
Highlights of the program shall be the World Premiere of the
organ with orchestra version of Iberian Feast of the Resurrection
by Carlos Xavier Santiago, the World Premiere of the
second movement from Frederick Hohman's Concerto for Organ
and Orchestra, and a rare performance of the 1903 Horatio
Parker Concerto for Organ and Orchestra (Strings,
Brass, Harp and Drums), Opus 55.
Unlike events that occur during
the convention proper, which are closed to the general public
and open only to AGO convention attendees, this pre-convention
concert is open to both AGO convention attendees and the general

Frederick Hohman returns yet again for a solo recital upon the
2-manual and pedal Dutch tracker organ, in a quaint New England
venue that has drawn such other renown organists as Thomas Heywood
and Carol Williams. A free-will offering will be received.

Frederick Hohman makes a return to the stage of comfortable,
air-conditioned Merrill Auditorium and the FRIENDS OF THE
KOTZSCHMAR ORGAN Summer Series, after several years, where
he plays the Mighty Kotzschmar Organ (Austin Opus 323), on which
he has previously recorded 2 CDs: Lemare Affair II and
Lemare Affair III. Frederick has been invited to fill
this date on the summer series, after the unfortunate recent
cancellation of a 2008 USA concert tour by the brilliant Australian
organ virtuoso Thomas Heywood, who was to have appeared at FOKO
on 15 July 2008. A suggested donation is required for admittance.

Frederick Hohman returns yet again to the venue which boasts
the most impressive organ case in America, and the organ which
is known as the first concert organ in the United States (from
Boston Music Hall). This Wednesday evening series is a part of
the summer organ recital series that has been running for decades
at Methuen. This is the venue featured in Dr. Hohman's Midnight
Pipes DVD video (MP 9021 DVD), which is still available from

ALBERT SCHWEITZER ORGAN FESTIVAL AND COMPETITION / USA

Frederick Hohman returns for his 11th consecutive year as Competition
Adjudicator and Festival Artist for the ASOF/ USA. This competition
has become known as a major event for high school level contestants
as well as for young professionals. Also appearing in this year's
festival concert on Friday evening are 2008 co-adjudicators Marilyn
Mason (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) and Gerre Hancock
(University of Texas, Austin). Both Dr Mason and Dr Hancock are
among the most renown of artists in the field of organ music.
The competition is scheduled for Saturday morning and afternoon,
6 September, with a masterclass to be held for all finalists
on Sunday afternoon, 7 September.
