Taking inspiration from the 1970s organ solos of Austrian composers such as Anton Heiller and Peter Planyavsky, I added my own sense of humor and favorite harmonic gestures in creating my own composition, entitled "The Homecoming." The score to this work is now published by Zarex Scores. The jazz harmonies accompany fragments of American popular melodies: Once in Love With Amy, Every Little Breeze seems to whisper Louise, and You've Gotta Be a Football Hero. Add to this mix the occasional textures reminiscent of Naji Hakim and Marcel Dupré, and you have a complex portrait of the composer and his experiences as an organist.
