ORGAN AND ORCHESTRA SPECTACULAR,
ST. MICHAEL LUTHERAN CHURCH,
9201 NORMANDALE BLVD, BLOOMINGTON (MINNEAPOLIS), MINNESOTA
This concert is being promoted by the American Guild of Organists
as the official featured event for the evening prior to the opening
of the 2008 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists,
which runs through June 22 - 26, 2008 in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis
- St. Paul, Minneosta.
Frederick Hohman will perform upon the 3-manual Reuter Organ
at St. Michael Church, Bloomington, and joins with the Bloomington
Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of the orchestra's principal
conductor, Joseph Schlefke, in a program featuring organ with
orchestra. Frederick Hohman shall be the only organ soloist featured
at the concert.
Highlights of the program shall be the World Premiere of the
organ with orchestra version of Iberian Feast of the Resurrection
by Carlos Xavier Santiago, the World Premiere of the
second movement of Frederick Hohman's Concerto for Organ
and Orchestra, and a rare performance of the 1903 Horatio
Parker Concerto for Organ and Orchestra (Strings,
Brass, Harp and Drums), Opus 55.
Unlike events that occur during
the convention proper, which are closed to the general public
and open only to AGO convention attendees, this pre-convention
concert is open to both AGO convention attendees and the general
